Prof. Dr. Cynthia Afriani, S.E., m.ec.

As the counterpart of Professor Veithzal Rivai, Professor Cynthia Afriani is a Tenured Professor of Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI). She is an active researcher at FEB UI and currently serves as a member of the University of Indonesia Academic Senate. In addition to her academic roles, she is also a Commissioner of Island Concepts Indonesia, Tbk (ICON).

Professor Cynthia teaches at both undergraduate (S1) and postgraduate (S2) programs at FEB UI. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Management (1996) from the Extension Program at FEB UI, her Master of Science in Management (1999), and her Ph.D. in Finance (2006) from the Graduate School of Management, FEB UI. From 2008 to 2009, she also served as the Head of the Management Research Center at the same institution.

Her areas of expertise include capital market investment, corporate finance, corporate governance, and sustainable finance. She has authored numerous research papers, journal articles, and books, and is a frequent speaker at national and international academic conferences and seminars. Her scholarly work has contributed significantly to the understanding of topics such as family ownership, stock price crash risk, corporate diversification, and good governance practices in emerging markets, particularly Indonesia and East Asia.
